I'm a self-taught photographer based in Belgium. I studied engineering, more specifically statistics, and photography is a great escape from the world of ones and zeros — a binary world where a solution either works or it doesn't. A photo is the opposite: there are hundreds of choices to be made, and nobody is right or wrong.
I make photos of people, all kinds, surrounded by their environment. Life can be hard, and it shouldn't be all "look how happy I am" — the kind of photos you get overloaded with on Instagram. Everybody is dealing with something, and I want that to come through in my work.
Alongside that, I'm building toward something more specific: surgical and operating room photography. I'm genuinely interested in the steel replacement components we put in our bodies, and the ingenuity that goes into them. I'm currently developing that side of my work with surgeons and medical teams who need images that actually understand what's happening in the room.
